Please be aware sat navs may try to take you down the unpassable roads known as Chapel Butt Lane and Brownber Lane.
From the M6 J38 (Tebay)
Follow the A685 east towards Kirkby Stephen and Brough. After about 5 miles, as you reach the sign Newbiggin-on- Lune and the first illuminated traffic island, take the turning to the left, signposted to Kelleth and Gt. Asby. Follow signs for Gt. Asby taking you into High Lane. Follow directions from High Lane given below.
From the A1
Take the A66 west from Scotch corner to Brough. Turn south at Brough on the A685. Follow the A685 through Kirkby Stephen. About 5 miles past Kirkby Stephen you will approach the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune on your left. Continue onwards a few hundred yards on the A685 ignoring the signs for the village and take the turning to the right, signposted to Kelleth and Gt. Asby. [Be aware your GPS system may try persuade you to turn earlier into Chapel Butt Lane – do not do this!]. Follow signs for Gt. Asby taking you into High Lane. Follow directions from High Lane given below.
THEN…From High Lane
The drive leading to Brownber Hall Country House is the third drive on the right, about 60 yards up High Lane. The entrance gates are set back a little and bear a big Brownber Hall sign. [Be aware that some GPS systems may try to take you further up High Lane to a bridleway – if you cross a cattle grid you have gone too far.] Turn into the main gate, pass the lodge and follow the road round. You will pass a second house on the left and will see Brownber Hall raised high on the left of the lane. The entrance to Brownber Hall is just past the front of the building and requires a sharp turn back on yourself to the left.
Parking
There are parking spaces at both ends of the building. Please park in the bays (marked by wooden ground strips) and avoid obstructing circular access around the building. We will be happy to assist on arrival if required.
